The Springbar Legacy: Tested, Proven, Trusted Since 1961
The story of the Springbar Tent begins in the 1950s—America’s golden age for road trips, national parks, and car camping. Jack Kirkham, owner of a small canvas tent & awning shop in Salt Lake City, began hearing complaints from customers about the available tents—too many poles, too many ropes, and too much time to pitch. Jack saw a problem, and he was determined to fix it. He tinkered and stitched and eventually came up with a really clever idea. By using the flex and tension of steel “springbar rods,” Jack created a tent that set up in a few minutes, was spacious to dwell in, and reliable in harsh weather. In short—the perfect car camping tent. In 1961, the Springbar was born.
Jack’s Springbar design has stood the test of time and over the last 50 years has produced thousands of happy campers. When it comes to car camping, family camping, and base camps—the Springbar Tent has few rivals. Videos |
