The newest member of the Springbar family of tents is also the biggest Springbar we've ever built. At 12' x 16', this behemoth will satisfy even the largest family camping groups.
To create the Colossus, first we had to engineer a special frame to support it. Instead of steel-reinforced aluminum like other Springbars, the ridge and uprights of the Colossus are made of massive 1-3/16" steel rail pipe. For the tension bars, we use supersize 3/4" solid fiberglass rods. This burly frameset is capable of supporting the Colossus even in strong wind-loads, while still being easily set up by one person.
This tent is not just extra-large, but versatile as well. In addition to all the deluxe Springbar features you've come to expect, we've added a second door (the front and rear of the tent are identical in appearance), two large triangular end-panel windows, and a second zippered awning attachment to the rear wall, so you can move your canopy to either side — or even add a second canopy in the future.
Make no mistake, the Colussus is not for everyone. The combined weight of the tent, poles, awning and stakes is 115 lbs, a bit much for campers with small cars or those who move camp every day. But for if you want (or need) the biggest, baddest Springbar ever made — and you have the truck to haul it — the Colossus might just be for you!
